Arghhhh, Snakes!

Mooresville, NC(Zone 7b)

Again, Dang it, a snake ate my baby bluebirds. I looked on Monday and 4 chicks hatched and one egg left to hatch. Looked this morning and they are all gone! I am so mad. This has happened once too many times. What do I do? Any suggestions?

Hi mel, These predator guards should be of help. The Sialis site is a great one.

Thanks for the link, the baffle is a great idea and should work on the post. But what about birdhouses attached to a tree? Any help there?

Hi mel, I don't know that there is any help for that. I know they they are way more open to all types of predators when the house is attached to a tree.

You shouldn't have a bluebird house attached to a tree, it's an invitation for racoons. Putting up a bluebird house on anything but a thin smooth pipe and including a baffle is setting up baby bluebirds and possibly the parents for an untimely and un-called for demise.
