Right side of the front yard. Daylilies and daffs in the planterbox terrace. Roses to the top and way, way right. Tulips blooming at the foot of the honeysuckle trellis.

Early May in my Cottage Garden
Beautiful pics!
Beautiful! I love the pond. I'm partial to water features in the garden. I'm aquarius, the water bearer. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but I've always loved water. Do you put plants or fish in your pond? I'd love to have fish in my ponds, but the snakes keeping eating them. I even saw a heron going diving in my pond a few years ago.
Those blooming shrubs are just spectacular! Beautiful color! And I love the wood hyacinths.
Thanks! I wish it could stay like this all season as it has so much color now. I just love spring.
I'm looking forward to seeing the garden as it goes thru the seasons, what you have blooming when.
I have a lot blooming and just keep adding more. For instance I just received the 175 lily bulbs I ordered and will be planting them tomorrow.
But the spring color really started in early April with the spring bulbs. First Daffodils and then tulips.

I just love the wood hyacinths.
The Wood Hyacinths are really great this year. They have filled in so much of that back area were they are planted that it is just a carpet of blooms. I keep going to look at them because they just look so good this year.
These things do love to multiply so they spread quickly.

Rita - interesting. I was going to ask that question. How many did you plant and how long ago? I just love the drifts of color.
I have had these things for 30 years. I planted afew like 10-20 of them in that bed and thru the years they completely filled up the entire bed. When I decided to make it a rose bed I pulled them out all over the place to plant roses. But still plenty left and they just fill in again. Finially what I do now is pull out any that show up in the front part of the bed and keep them in the back.
They do like to multiply but its not like they are invasive. If they come up were you don't want, simply pull the folliage while its green.
I think somehow my neighor may have killed my lilac :-(. I have only a FEW green leaves on a FEW branches. I say "neigbhor" because it's at the edge of the property and I noticed SEVERAL things on his side of the fence dead and I have NOT used any spray chemicals.
really beautiful pics! your hard work has def. paid off with some stunning color!
VERY nice iris!
Your gardens are spectacular. Just looking at your photos makes me feel happy!
Rita, I remember you planting a whole bunch of stuff last year. It looks like all your hard work has paid off! Lovely.
Have to laugh as I plant a whole bunch of stuff every year. Thats why things keep on getting better looking. I just keep adding to the garden.
The Iris Corner garden in the very front yard by my neighbors driveway has so many stalks and ready to burst into bloom. The strong rain of the past three days has unfortunately already messed up the blooms of Evening Tidings that is blooming there but at least there are more buds.
This corner iris garden is not a big iris garden but its a very favorite of mine because of its location surrounded by the roses and lilies to the back and sides. Last year at bloom season I only had the original part but I liked it so much I put in a second tier there and transplanted iris from other areas of the garden to give me the look I wanted. Which is exactly what this looks like this year. Plus it is out by the street so passersby also get to enjoy my blooms.
Rita
that is going to be gorgeous when all the iris open up!
