Daffs and Tulips never quit. Still Blooming.

The front yard daffs are on their last wave of blooms but still going strong. Each time a batch dies down, a new wave of blooms opens. In order to keep it looking top notch, I pick off the spent blooms every few days.

Rita, I just love that bed of daffs and colorful tulips. That sure was a lot of planting to do, all those bulbs. Did you plant those bulbs last Fall or previous years and they have multiplied? Spring wouldn't be spring without tulips, hyacinths and daffs but it takes so long for their foliage to die back. Right now I am wanting to fold down the daff foliage and tie with either a green garden twine, or a rubber band. I've even seen people fold that foliage down so that the tips touch the ground, and use a green stem/leaf and tie all together till the foliage dies back to make it look more tidy. This is the frustrating thing about growing bulbs of any kind. What do you do; just let them die back naturally? Thank You for sharing your pictures of your beautiful gardens. I know you have been working so hard the past two years getting your gardens full and just right. The beauty pays off.

Thanks, I planted all these and more last fall. After blooming (and they are finially done now) I cut or snap off the seed heads on the daffs and on all the tulips. Of course I leave the rest of the folliage. I don't even tie it or lay it down or anything. I just leave it be until it dissapears on its own.
