Osama Bin Laden has been found and killed, by U.S. Forces...Justice at last for the United States of America...GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
Off Topic, but great news:
Yeah!!!!! I saw it
My Son-in-Law was killed in Afghanistan in 2005 because of his belief in protecting the world against devils such as this person.
Rest in peace 1st Lt. Joshua M. Hyland and all that lost their lives in an effort to make the world a safer place, your work is done.
God Bless America!
I am relived that this has finally happened. I want to rejoice, but also I am sad because of what Eufaula's SIL and many others have done for us...Paid the ultimate price. I can feel a little better now that he has finally paid the ultimate price for the evil he carried out. I think he has now met his eternal doom and is with the devil himself.
Also, I am thinking we don't want to look like the people that we see in those foreign countries celebrating in the streets burning flags and hanging/burning effigies of people. It would give them more fodder to want to do us harm. I think we as a people need to take the high road and keep our celebrations to a minimum. I also hope that this has other bad guys quaking in their boots wondering when they are next.
Thanks to the Navy seals for a job well done. Lets just hope we can start sending some of our guys and girls home now.
Can't believe you believe this bull Haystack. I'll have to hush now.
I agree Titanium, this is not a time to celebrate, but rather to be grateful, and humble. I have always been grateful for those who go in harms way to secure what this country is all about...FREEDOM FOR ALL...Those who give the ultimate did so because of what they believe...God Bless Them and all of their Loved ones...Hay...
oh and what a coward he was in the end. CNN this afternoon telling about the shoot out. He hid behind his wife so they took her out with a head shot then he got one in the head too when she went down. Then after all he has done to us American we gave him a proper Muselium funeral
Not sure if burial at sea counts as a proper Muslim burial...
Yes Melva it does: What is great about this whole thing is that it sends the message that we don't give people what they deserve, but behave ourselves in a more noble way. I have always said I thank God the Lord never gave me what I deserved but rather gave me what I needed, (His unconditional Love) thats what turned me around...Hay
Yes Melva they even said the Muslim prayers for him
- And then dropped him out of the helicopter?
I need to keep my 2cents to a minimum too. They asked on the news this morning if it gave us closure. My answer was No.. it did not give me closure. Too little too late. It was not a victory. I don't feel it was justice.. it would have been if it was 10 years ago, but not now.
Rest in peace 1st Lt. Joshua M. Hyland.
I sure do respect, and understand what you are saying ZZ's but we have domestic murderers who go undetected longer than ten years. Closure? Not even sure what that means...but, in the Words of President George W. Bush "We will either bring you to justice, or bring justice to you, You will be rentlessly pursued until we find you, dead or alive". That sends a strong message to those in the future, who think they can hide and out wit the great forces of the U.S. Military and the resolve of the American people...It may be bitter sweet, and I'm no fan of this administration, but I am a fan of the Great American People...Hay
It's only the end to a beginning. Stay on your toes, things will only get worse.
I fear that too but pray we are wrong. Hubbies work had extra guards at the gates and checked every single badge of anyone that came in. He works at the Shipyard that builds Naval Ships
I can't help remembering something my Dad used to say. "Better the Devil you know." It occurs to me that the new regime may be even worse, and fueled by what will be seen as martyrdom. I hope that does not come to pass. It did not seem much like justice, to me.
Eufala, my Dad was a Navy Man to the end. Please accept my condolences on the brave passing of your heroic Son-In-Law, 1st Lt. Joshua M. Hyland.

I can understand why we didn't bury him in a grave on land...but....
ZZ, please accept my condolences on the loss of your SIL
Haystack, I agree with you 100% on everthing you've said in this thread.
I'm glad the man is no longer a threat to our country, and I'm also relieved we don't have to pay to keep him locked up for months (years?) to try him in a courtroom etc etc.. However, I'm rather sickened by all the scenes shown from outside the White House Sunday night of a crowd of (probably) drunken, wild, outlandishly, disgustingly undisciplined young people screaming, yelling, making silly faces at the cameras. To have scenes like those shown all over the world will do nothing to uphold any shred of respect our country might have anywhere.
Also, although Bin Laden was a very evil man, and this world is much better off without him, still, he was a human being, created in God's image, just as we are. I wonder what God thinks about all this revelry at a man's death, even a very, very evil man. Those kinds of actions are rather reminiscent of the public hangings and beheadings in midevil times, where the crowd roared with delight each time a person lost his head or was hung. Or of the Roman coliseum where the crowd was uproariously thrilled to see people put to death, and seemed to become more bloodthirsty the longer it lasted.
We can be so very relieved and thankful that such a wicked, evil man is no longer a threat, but I think people need to restrain their undisciplined jubilation at the death of another human being.
I'm so very proud of our Navy Seals who performed so flawlessly, and I'm thankful they're OURS. I'm also grieved at the horrific loss of life our military have had to endure, and I ache inside for every family member anywhere who has lost a loved one in defense of our country. I myself am former military, my sons are former military, and one of my sons was in the Marines in the first Gulf War. His unit was stationed in northern Kuwait on the border of Iraq, having frequent battle skirmishes with the Iraqis that CNN didn't know about and didn't cover. I know the anguish of hearing of our troops losing lives, and wondering if my son was one of the ones killed or if perhaps he was spared. Thanks be to God, he was spared and lived to come home. However, I've lost other loved ones, and I too grieve with those who grieve. Thankfully, we have the promise of seeing our loved ones again in heaven, and we can live with that glorious Hope of the Gospel.
P.S. Yes, GOD BLESS AMERICA !!!
Well said!
WOW!!!: Well said indeed. I also served in our military, and indeed it does give you a better perspective in my opinion. I so agree with what you said, especially of those who were displaying themselves in disrespectful ways in front of the White House. It only served to remind me of the behaviour of some in the third world countries...I am a firm believer in justice, rather than revenge, I am also against the unbridled tongue, James speaks of the danger of such tongues. In my opinion there is no doubt that the unbridled tongue and unbridled actions are generally owned by the uneducated, and in this country there is no excuse for that as education is so easy to attain...I have a twenty - five year old grandson, I was speaking with him last night. He has the attitude of a fifteen year old, I asked him why he hadn't gotten his education? His response was, education is for stupid people...DUH...No wonder he is always in trouble with the law...Hay
By they way Lazarpl, Welcome to the forum. I hope you will stick around and post, or, comment on more of our subjects...Best Regards...Hay

My prayer is that God Will bless America again
Thanks, Haystack and Porkpal, for your positive comments! I very seldom express my feelings so openly, and I've been wondering all day if I'd be torn apart by someone who disagreed with me. I really appreciate your encouragement.
Haystack, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandson and his immature outlook on life. Unfortunately, I think there are many others like him in this country. We need to be praying for your g'son. (It reminds me of when Elisha and Gehazi found themselves surrounded by the enemy in II Kings 6:17, and Elisha prayed "O Lord, open his eyes that he may see." and the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he SAW.) Your g'son certainly is blind!! And deaf, too, to what life is all about. I hope he'll come to his senses soon!
Yes, green, I agree... and bless America again and again and again! Our part is as in II Chronicles 7:14 (If My people...)
Goodness, I'm not trying to turn this thread into a Bible study! However, some pretty serious things are happpening these days. I believe we're living in the times of Matthew 24 right now!
And with that I'll hush!
No need to hush, the good people of this forum are more than wonderful, and understanding. As a former pastor I get a little preachy at times and they still put up with me. There are others here that believe a little different, but we respect the right of believing differently and still embracing as family.
Thanks for reminding me of needing to pray for my grandson, as I do even after small reminders of his stinking thinking...LOL...Glad your here...Hay
Haystack, I'll pray for him too, when I'm praying for my boys. What's his first name, if you don't mind saying? Give us updates from time to time on how he's doing and if he's come to his senses, OK?
I have great appreciation for pastors (and former pastors)! You're good people!
It's always good if people with different opinions can simply agree to disagree, in a friendly way!
My dear wife woke me up early this morning to tell me one of my seramas that I'm hatching was upside down in the incubator egg turner. It's doing fine now after I put it in the brooder...Lazarpl my grandson's name is Levi. I have doted on him, as his mother has been a terrible mom and therefore he has a horrible attitude but I love him more than I can tell you. My wife and I raised him for many years but his mom has done much damage to him. I pray for him and we are tight but he still won't listen. I do continually pray for him. I only hope I can live long enough to see the Lord get ahold of him...Thank you so much for your prayers...as always Best Regards...Hay
God Bless all the service Men and Women that work hard to keep us safe.....
A hatchling was upside down in the incubator?? Sounds humorous, but it wouldn't be so funny if your wife hadn't seen it and notified you! Glad you got THAT little one turned around, anyway!
I've prayed for Levi and will continue to. So many times it's so much easier to pray for others' kids with fervency and passion than our own, especially at a distance! Do let me know when he gets his head on straight. Dt. 28 gives us an open-book test, and we can choose either God's way or our own way. With the examples you've poured into that boy, someday he'll see the difference and choose to go the better way, hopefully soon. It's strange how some people waver back and forth, and I don't fully understand it.
This may be a silly question, but what time does a person have to get up to let their chickens out of the coop in the mornings? (I'm such a night-owl and a late riser if given a chance, that it's a real concern before launching into chickendom! I need to be sure I'm willing to do all the needed things to care for my little flock!)
How does a person "tag" any forum to make it a favorite, and then how do we go back to it later? (My computer skills are sorta' advanced beginner level!)
Lazarpl, to make this forum your favorite just get to this page your reading right now, then look in the upper left hand corner and see the star with the word favorites beside it , then click on the star then (add favorites) will pop up under the word favorites. Then click on ad favorites and a little screen will appear on your computer and then you click on add. After that when you leave the forum and want to come back you just click on favorites and the forum will appear under favorites and you just click on the forum. Does that make any sense. Let me know, I am very good at confusing my friends...LOL.
Honestly raising chickens is a wonderful and theraputic hobby. This forum and the people on here are wonderful about helping out new folks that are interested. I also am generally a night owl and usually up around seven and my chickens just have to learn to live with my hours...LOL. I honestly think you would have a blast raising them, they are so funny to watch, and so laid back I use them as a stress reliever. I'd be more than happy to help you get started but the forum is filled with many wonderfull ladies here that would love to meet you and assist you...Haystack
That's interesting, that your chickens have to wait until about 7 when you get up. Now I'm wondering.... the books I've read say they need 12-14 hours of daylight in order to lay eggs. So how do your chickens get enough light, especially in the winter? Do you have lights installed with automatic timers?
Raising chickens must be for therapeutic reasons, as it certainly isn't to save money on eggs! I just bought some at the grocery store for $1.77, and tonight I saw some advertised at Walgreen's for $1.29! I could hardly believe it! Of course any home-grown ones from my own hens would have much more nutrition than those, though.
Off subject..... My son just called... He's going fishing Sat. morning, right now he and his friends are fishing for "spoonbill", which are usually around 50 pounds or more. (One of his friends caught one that was 120 or 140 lbs, I don't remember which.) My son wants me to ask my Vietnamese friend if she and her family want his fish, providing he catches some Sat.. When he gives her fish, she wants the head left on and the "innards" left intact! They eat all parts of it! She thinks the fish's eyeballs are a real delicacy! The first time he gave her fish, he had completely cleaned them for her, thinking he was doing her a big favor, and she was quite disappointed! Guess we're really missing out on something special and don't know it!
OK, back to chickens..... Next time!
Hay, thanks for your instructions! It worked! I had thought the :"Favorites" were something to mark here on the forum site, but I found what you mean. Thank you so much!
Lazarpl this is how you get your hours of light.I put a timer with a small light on it(I use a flouresent bar light less electicity)I set the timmer so they will get 14 hrs of light a day in the winter hours.I have it so they get it in the morning hours and not the evening hours. It does not make a difference I guress but thats what I do.I have only been rasing chickens for four years now and I love it!!They are so entertaining an I love those broodys and babies.I started out with different breeds but now am mostly into silkies and buff orpingtons.I do have 2 faverolles because they have such cute faces although now not so cute heads because the rooster really like them and has pulled all there head feathers out trying to hang onto them and they have aprons on because he was trearing their back feathers out.I`ll post a pictures of Lucy and Ethel.Welcome to the forum you will learn so much here and don`t ever think a question is to dumb to ask because it is not.
Tthanks for the great pics! I've never seen faverolles, nor aprons on chickens. Do you make your own aprons for them? (I've seen them on websites, and they're ridiculously expensive for such a little bit of material!)
As for the light, how bright a light does it have to be? I guess a little bulb like a Christmas tree bulb wouldn't give enough light?? (That's sorta' a night light.)
If the light turns on in the morning, do the hens then fuss to be let out of their coop, or are they content to stay in there?
Thanks for all your explanations, and again for the photos.
I know this is going off the topic of this thread, but I've got to ask about the Faverolls you have pictured Green. The one I've got that is still young doesn't have much red on it like yours do. My question is will my little peep get darker as time goes on or are there some that tend to stay lighter? I know the one I have with the black blotches on it will be a boy so I'm not worried about how it will turn out...Kinda obvious now what he is going to be by looking at the adult pictures of them online.
Mine is hatchery stock so the color is darder, but the ones I see that from breeders are the lighter color and have seen white ones to which I really like.
Lazarpl you don`t have to have a bright light I have read where a night light will work. And its winter when I use it so no they don`t want to be outside in the dark and cold.
