This is the 2nd year for my rhubarb and it is just started coming up and today I noticed it getting 2 seed stalks. I was hoping to get to harvest some. Can someone tell me if I should leave them or cut them off so the edable stalks can continue to grow. Everyone has always told me that rhubarb was easy to grow, but I have never had any luck.

my rhubarb is already going to seed Help.
MIne have started going to seed as well and it is early. I cut them off every year so the strength goes into the plant. Just cut the flowering stalks off - no harm will be done! Rhubarb is a heavy feeder so give them compost or some good rotted manure and they will last for years. Last year I found some goat manure and my newly seeded ones just took off!
Thank You so much!!! That is excactly what I will do. I know its crazy but I have tried to grow rhubarb for years with no luck.

Do you think if I buy a bag of manure and spread it around the plants now it would help or would it burn them?
If the manure if composted there is no problem. You can also bury kitchen scraps around them and cover with mulch. If you can find someone in your area who has goats or rabbits that is great manure because it doesn't burn used fresh! Good luck!
