Hangin Zuchini

Rock Hill, SC

Hi All,
Has anyone tried hanging zuchini (like hanging tomatoes?)?
Did it work?
Thanks in advance!

Probably too heavy. The only tomatoes I plant in a hanging container (if that's what you mean) are cherries. These are black cherry toms.

The plant you might try in a pot would be the vine okra, regular bush squashes have too fleshy of a stem and the leaves die as the plant grows in length...

hoogie, I haven't tried "hanging " zukes but I have trained them UP stakes before, tying the vines up as they grow. They were able to support the fruit just fine. My tallest one got to almost six feet one year.

If you try them in a pot you better use a big pot so the moisture level will be consistent, not fluctuating from wet to dry extremes.

I grow vining summer squash of different types, and trellis them, but I think they'd be too much for a hanging situation. They'd still have to "climb" something, so would kinda defeat the purpose. My bush type plants would be way too big for those puny little planters *G*.
