Are These Wild Strawberries?

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

There's a patch of what looks like strawberries growing low to the ground in a shady patch of grass near the house. The berry sits on top of a little yellow flower.

if they are wild strawberries, are they edible? And, how do I care for them while they're growing?

Here's a pic.

Thx,
Linda

They are tasteless but harmless. They will also take over an area and are worth erradicating IMO.

Would it be unkind of me to let them overtake my neighbor's yard since they planted honeysuckle that's taken over my fence??

Thanks, Pod!

IT SURE DOES!

The only good thing I can say about wild strawberries is box turtles like to eat them. Otherwise they are a weed, IMO.
