I may be in trouble...

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

This man lives near me and he has a lot of the chickens I want...

I have bantam cochins, serama, sebastropol geese, speckled Sussex,
Buff orpinton, buff Brahms. Not sure where you could get a coop but you can make a homemade brooder with a clear tub

The people who have the coop for $250 are an hour and a half away from me...then I would have to hire someone to go and get the coop, if I were to buy it.
I wish the one here in Denton was not so high.
My yard man didn't come today due to the weather..I will talk to him tomorrow about making me a coop.

Home made is fine and not hard at all. You just need a frame, lots of hardware cloth (the biggest expense), roosts and some sort of box for a nest. The structure can be made entirely out of cattle panels covered with the wire, all four sides, top and bottom, make one side "hinged" to open... - super simple.

I know...I have an enclosure that was made for a turtle...it is about 8 by 12 and one side of it is the wall of the garage, The other 3 sides have rebar all along the edge to prevent burrowing out (and probably in) I think it could be used as part of the coop. I will take pictures of the pen, so you can see.
