This afternoon in Pensacola I heard a noise, heard it again and looked up to see trying to fly into my window on the right a large, I would think predator-sized greenish bird but with a rufous or reddish-orange tail, well-spread. I only saw a breast-front view. I initially thought it was an American Kestrel, but the pictures of that bird don't seem to capture either its larger size or the greenish breast and wings, seen from that anterior view. What do you think? I've not ruled out the Kestrel, or other bird of prey. Could it have been an escaped tropical bird? It was at least as large as a small parrot (but definitely larger than a parakeet.) Best,

What Green Bird with Red Tail In My Window?
Sounds like maybe an escaped parrot of some sort. Check out Chestnut-fronted Macaw, that has a green breast and reddish tail, and has a feral population in Florida.
