I just had a new bird show up at my bird bath. I can't find it in any of my books. Will someone please help me out and see if they can identify him. He's kinda rough looking because he's bathing, but these are the only shots I could get because my feeders are empty right now.
He has a black head and a thick yellow collar that almost goes all the way around his neck. It doesn't quite meet in the back though.
I'll post a couple pictures since none are very good.
Thanks.
CLOSED: New bird in yard. Atlanta, GA
I think Cape May Warbler but I can't see it real well
I googled it and looked at all of the images that came up. While most of the images had a much lighter head, there were a few with the black head, so I think you are right. :-) I couldn't see the whole body at any one time, but it had a lot of yellow showing on it's underside when it lifted it's wings. Plus, this one had that distinctive white patch on his wing.
It's so neat to have a new bird swing through each year. And I'm so surprised since I don't have my feeders filled right now. (I've been under the weather) He just really needed a bath I guess.
Thanks again!!!
Yep, Cape May Warbler
Resin
My guess would have been Blackburnian Warbler.
Agree, Cape May Warbler.
