Leave on this brug is not fuzzy and is very fragrant at night - can anyone help identify Thanks
Double white need name please
Sorry, About all I can say is that its a Brugmansia and not a Datura. Leaves look like they do have a bit of fuzz to them though apparently not enough to warrant mention as being trully velvety. I simply love the velvety type leaves although many of my velvety type leaved seedling Brugs fail to grow as fast as I would like so the trully velvety looking seedlings get killed off after the first year as I only allow a year for most of my seedlings to bloom. If they don't bloom within 2 years I erradicate them for sure as my main concern is a nice early repeat bloomer-I hope I can work on the flower itself after the first part is achieved.
Judy, enchanted double white has serrated leaves with highly marked veins on the leaves...haven't seen it bloom.... is this a possibility? nice to see you.
The top of the leave is velvety to the touch - sorry senior moment - the larger leaves are serrated and the veins are prominent.
Thanks so much Arlene-glad to see someone coming to the rescue.
Would you like to give up a cutting??? It is beautiful. Shirley
Why is it everyone is always so impressed by the doubles? I must confess, I am very impressed with the seedlings from some doubles, but I don't work much with them myself. Guess I rely on other hybridizers to do that and hope and wait for their wonderful hybrids. I personally like many of the singles created from such hybrids.
brugman, some of us are trying to get them all... OTOH, i am trying to come to grips with the fact i'll have to start to be more selective. have several more of your hybrids will be blooming soon.
Arlene,
Wait until you become so selective you start killing the named hybrids in your yard...thats when the fun begins...or the insanity...killing seedlings is much easier. Although I confess that some seedlings that I like as much as other named hybrids or just simply a tad bit better take the place of other hybrids in my yard as well....Bring on the different types of pollen as they say and hope for something better. Hope is the operative word.
