This is my first try at growing apples, I've got 9 kinds and all the trees are now getting green shoots on them, on the older wood and there's a green sprig coming out the tops of them. All are alive! I'm shocked, frankly.
Kuffel Creek says they can grow up to 10 feet tall in the first 12 months.
After reading all the things that can retard and kill apples trees, I was a bit nervous, but it looks like things are going pretty good.
They're all alive! (My apple trees!)
Congrads.
Apples and Peaches are both prone to a multitude of maladies but when they work, it is excellent.
Sadly, you should not let them fruit for the first year or two or they put energy into fruit instead of roots and healthy growth. That being said, I usually cant help but let one or two stay on the tree.
