This bird was a few feet from my backdoor. I do not live anywhere near a wooded or rural area, but in the heart of the city. I've never seen anything like this in my yard. Please tell me what kind of hawk it is. Thanks!

Yes - it's probably the hawk most often seen in gardens in residential areas in N America.
