Bulbs galore!!!

Hammonton, NJ(Zone 6b)

As they say, "April showers bring May flowers!". This wicked thunderstorm going on right outside my windows made me think to make a post sharing all my bulbs currently emerging. I went around outside earlier and took a rough count on everything popping up in the ground and in pots. Below is a list and pictures will come within a few days!

As the daffodils and hyacinths flowers begin to fade, everything else is emerging.

I have about all of my 150 ranunculus emerging (96 in pots and the rest in the ground). They all have growth heads stating to poke through the soil.

My potted gloriosa lily is shooting up it's trellis at an alarming rate. I think I may need a a bigger one.

My potted cyclamen persicum is loving the cool nights and is throwing out growth and buds like no tomorrow.

I am starting to see little oxalis leaves emerge, along with the oriental lilies.

The dutch iris are appearing everywhere around the pond.

My potted allium are starting to show their heads as the primrose they are planted with are starting to look "bleh" from the warm days.

And lastly the peruvian daffodils growth is alreday over a foot tall. The warm days have really got them growing.

The only plants that have yet to emerge are the my cannas, elephant ears, and caladiums. I'm sure it won't be much longer though. All of this growth is so refreshing from our long dreary winter here in Jersey.

Sounds good and it all makes perfect sense. Your Cannas, Elephant Ears and Caladiums will eventually come around. Those guys are plants from down here. Hopefully they will wait until there are no more possible frosts/freezes. In South Flower it's more like "April Flowers Bring May Showers". April is a very good month for blooms and mid to late May is the beginning of our tropical summer rainy season.

Franco, you have quite a collection of specimen bulbs coming on! Sounds very interesting. Your weather in 6b (even though the weather reports make NJ weather sound dreadfully inclement) must be fairly mild (compared to me in 6a)!

Your mention of the Gloriosa lily reminded me that I have some planted in pots hidden in my pile of leaf mulch and I'd better take a look at them tomorrow!

When will we see you pics??! t.

I plan to take pics as soon as I catch a decent day. I was planning on today, but it has begun to rain and i'm in a severe thunderstorm watch :

But I'm seeing growth on everything except caladiums and EE's.

I'm in 6b also, but I start caladiums inside. and they are 3-inch spears. When I started them in the ground, they always rotted and never performed. The leaves are not yet unfurled.

I put the elephant ears in a large pot today as well as dutch iris, begonias and some additional lilies. Everything in the ground is growing great guns. The peonies are a foot or higher, the tulips are finally in bloom (and gorgeous) and all the lilies have broken ground in every garden and every container we own.
