Have a number of Texas redbud seeds and haven't a clue how to get them started -- need advice, suggestions, etc. TIA
Growing Texas redbud from seeds
I don't normally plant Redbud seeds because they volunteer all over the place and I always have new little trees.
I imagine the best time to plant them is in the fall, as nature does, I do know that they have a hard coat on them, so if you want to start them now, the boiling water treatment might work.
Put some of the shelled seeds in a cup and pour boiling water over them, let them sit in the water overnight and then plant. Don't be afraid, the boiling water won't hurt them.
I hope it works for you, it might be a good idea to save some to plant in October outdoors.
Good luck with your adventure, they are beautiful trees.
Josephine.
Thanks, Frostweed! I knew I could count on you...
You are welcome, I hope you get what you wanted.
