Need advice for Wintergreen (Gaulthera Procumbens)

I have a Wintergreen plant in a 4" pot that I just received from Bluestone Perennials. It is a nice plant- I have always lived in the South where they won't grow, and I read they need acid soil. I have compressed peat, but our soil here is very alkaline. Any advice? Thanks

You could try some of the organic fertilizer mix sold for use on blueberries. I have a Wintergreen plant that is not growing very fast, so I might try that myself. You could have better luck than I have had since the plant prefers a colder WInter than I have to offer it.

I understand these are a little tricky to get started. I know I tried to put some in several year ago and they just languished, and I have acid soil under douglas fir trees. Here's an article written by a local gardener:
