Hello!
I have some orange canna rhizomes that I'd like to trade for postage. I don't know what variety these are, but they have large, dark green leaves and orange flowers. They've never set seed. When I received my first one, I was told that they can grow as tall as 5 feet (at least here in California), but I've been growing them in a large container (14" wide by 37" long by 12" deep), so the tallest they've gotten for me so far is about 3 feet. Unfortunately, I do not have a photo to post, and we do not remember what the blooms look like enough to describe them other than that they are orange (we only had one bloom last season, I think because they were far too crowded in their container).
I have 17 pieces of orange canna rhizomes, each with 3-6 eyes. (I also have several smaller pieces, 1-2 eyes, that anyone is welcome to try growing if you want, though I'm told that those with at least 3 eyes have a better chance of success.)
I'd like to trade the canna for postage. Since I don't know what the weather conditions will be like between here and their destination(s), I think the best way to ship them is via USPS priority mail. Unfortunately, the canna rhizomes don't fit well in the small flat rate box, so I'll either need to ship them to you priority mail by weight ($5-6 for a 1-lb box or $5-10 for a 2-lb box, depending on what zone you're in), or I can ship them using a medium flat rate box (about $11). The rhizomes with 3-6 eyes weigh about 3-6 oz each, so I should be able to ship 2 to 4 in a 1-lb box and at least 5 in a 2-lb box. The actual number of rhizomes will vary depending on their size.
If interested, please send dmail and let me know how many rhizomes you want. Once I know how many you want, I can let you know how much postage to send. I'll assume you want the rhizomes with 3-6 eyes, but if you want any of the smaller ones, just let me know that, too. Thanks!
Michelle
