Hi Plumeria Experts,
We've had a cold winter, and I've got a couple multi-branched plumerias where the tip got some frost damage and is black. Further down the stem (just an inch or two) the branch itself (as well as the plant) looks quite healthy. Do I just cut off the tip, and will it grow as normal? Or, is the whole branch gone?
I haven't had this happen before, and am wondering the best thing to do to preserve my precious plants? Or...?
All help is appreciated! Thanks :-)

Plumeria spring question?
This site tells you what TO DO and what NOT TO DO with a cold-damaged Plumeria - please read it - it explains that 'black tip' is not due to cold/freeze damage:

Thanks!!
Show us pics of your Plumeria so we can all learn.
Okay, I'll shoot some tomorrow and get them posted...
That would be great - thanks!
I've a branch that was damaged by water logged problem. I cut it off today before I saw this thread. Apparently cutting the damaged branch back to healthy tissues is a thing to do. My question is. Most of my 'mature' plumerias are getting really tall to 'duck' the ceiling anymore. By jorge! Do I just chop them down to size eventually, in order to keep them manageable?
I didn't have time to take pics today, but I will tomorrow. Really great question too, Lily Love.
When cutting them like that, how many years does it take before the branch blooms again?
Most cut theres and graft the tips back to the roots if you know how to do that. Or if you don't take the cuttings in fall so they can be rooting and growing new tips for spring so you can have flowers by summer. The trees get too tall and you can't enjoy the flowers. I had quite a few with tip damage this winter still plenty of inflos just hate for that to happen. When this does happen I cut till I see totally clean white no brown rings. And usually I get 3 tips for 1 seal the cut to keep bugs from invading the plant
Looks good to me wow look at all those tips the more you have the more flowers you will have. My Aztec gold had over a doz tips flowering at once you could smell sweet peaches as you drove up to my gate. Really looking forward to this one to flower never had one this dark. Its almost black and it is healthy!
That's pretty neat, Dana. I've 'India' its leaves are quite dark but not exactly like that.
