Some celebrations today. Hibiscus laevis is finally starting to show signs of life. I was so worried I had killed it last fall by moving it in the heat. Black foot daisy has reseeded in many places, never seen that before. I have many seedlings of different types but am so bad at taking care of them and at potting them. At least this year I have a lot to practice on.

It's the little things that thrill me out in the garden.
I just leave the seedlings until they're large enough to transplant and then move or pot them up.
Cheryl, you should see the Phlox pilosa you gave me last year, it is blooming just beautiful, and yesterday there was pipevine swallowtail nectaring on it like crazy, she just couldn't get enough!!!.
Josephine.
Do you think its a different variety or ssp. than the original plants you had or are they all the same this spring? My original clump is in need of dividing and the strong winds haven't helped. I hate to do it as it is covered with flowers and I have noticed several moth and butterfly species enjoying it.
Frostweed, the 2 ruellias you gave me are finally growing. This is the first time any of these plants have come back for me. I hope they spread everywhere.

That is great Cheryl, I love the Ruellia nudiflora, they start late in the spring, but they sure are neat! and they do spread too.
I think the phlox you gave is the same as the one I have, it is just more robust, I woudn't divide now, wait till later. Phlox is great for Butterflies.
I just love it when plants I don't expect to come back, do! My East Texas Mistflower looked deader than a doorknob, but it's come back with a vengeance this spring! I started with one little plant that had 2 branches. This spring, a whole clump has sprouted and I couldn't be happier!
My phlox pilosa hasn't started blooming, but it's gearing up!!
It is all sooo thrilling, plants are wonderful!!
