ound Bird in Baton Rouge La

We found this bird acting very defensive. He would puff out and cry at us. We left it not knowing if it was hurt, or just guarding a nest. Could someone please tell me what kind of bird this is! We are stumped

Thank you soooo much. The bird was at a local Wndys resteraunt and was trying to attack the kids. we were just scared that he was hurt

Yep, Killdeer guarding a nest site. Might be worth asking the site owner to put up a temporary barrier to keep people (and cars!) away from the nest.
