Theobroma cacao 1 gallon plants for trade at end of summer

Annapolis, MD

Hello All!

Yesterday i received a cacao pod. This is my big summer experiment! I do one each year. The pod had 40 seeds in it all have been planted individually and when they are stable i will transplant them into gallon containers. They will be grown out side in my hot humid maryland environment with a automated drip system to keep them perfectly happy. Towards the end of the summer i will pick my favorites for my collection. The remaining will be divided into two groups half for trade here, half for sale on craigs list. i hope to be able to regain my cost for raising them in this fashion, yet still be able to find good homes for the majority of them.

THIS FORUM IS WHERE I WOULD LIKE MY TRADE OFFERINGS SO THAT I CAN PICK THROUGH THEM ALL FROM ONE PLACE. If you D-mail me they will most likely get lost in translation when i go to find them so please post here.

Through out the coarse of the summer please feel free to add or amend your offering. I cannot say that every one who posts here will get a cacao tree, but i can say this. My favorite 10-15 offers will. so keep an eye on my want lists, offer me those or similar plants and you may just get a gallon chocolate tree.

I will up date with pics as they develop through out the summer.

Good Luck !!!

I may be interested. I have Hibiscus -chinese lantern, walking iris, ric rac cactus, and vanilla orchid. Let me know which one you may be interested in so I can give it extra attention.

I received some raw cashews about a month ago. I haven't tried growing them yet but will attempt to do so if you're interested. I also have Tamarind Tree seeds that I can sprout. Let me know...

I too love experimentation and try to do one or more weirdities each year. This year it's growing "Ghost Peppers" (Bhut jalokia). I was in Trinidad several years ago and came upon Theobroma cacao in fruit but did not try to take it home with me.

I have about 200 varieties of Bromeliads and various tropicals. Last Summer my Musella lasiocarpa bloomed (actually it's still going). I divided the pups in March and have about 8-10 now growing in gallon containers (and a few more in my propagation box. The picture is of the Musella during the propagation process (all the leaves had frozen off as I left it outside into the early winter - was it a test or dumbness - who knows?). You can still see the bloom.

Have you successfully germinated the cacao seeds?

I have lots of named epis and pitayas (both red and white). Also seeds of tropical/subtropical trees like schotia and flame tree.

Would love a cacao tree.
