strange Shih Tzu behavior

My 7 yo Shih Tzu is trying to get used to being a farm dog. She found that chasing chickens was great fun. We discussed it and she decided not to do that any more. Now she herds them back to the chicken house from wherever they happen to be in the yard. When they are all accounted for she'll back off and just hold them near their door. She shows no aggression, just herds them. Is this normal breed behavior?
