This plant was going wonderfully, but it's taken a turn for the worse.
What's killing my plant?
I think a good dose of balanced fertilizer will do wonders for it. If it has been in the pot for a couple of years, you may want to re-pot it in fresh soil as well.
I think it will rebound quickly.
Thanks Fred. I was worried about mites.
Don't mention the "M" word so early in the season. :)
You just have a hungry plant that's ready to start taking off.
Fred
I have already waged my battle with the "M"s....so far i have won. Peony, the only other thing i would mention is to check the PH levels in the soil, You can buy a PH meter at Lowes, home depot or online for under 10 bucks (get the one that just does PH...some do Ph,light and moisture). You simply insert the rod into wet soil and get a reading. You want as close to a ph of 7 as possible. I know that here i have to watch my PH levels carefully...sprinkling every day and heavy summer rains tend to leave my soils acidic over a period of time and that's when i begin to see things like what you are seeing now in brugs that were once very healthy. You can correct PH levels by adding lime (to bring up acidic soils) or Sulfur to make alkaline soils more acidic...all are available at local garden centers for a reasonable price..sometimes it's cheaper to just repot into brand new soil. In my case i grow many of my brugs in 20 gallon pots...i can't afford to buy new soil all the time so i condition the soil periodically depending on how my PH test goes......It's the best $10 you will ever invest....and it will last you for years
I'm giving her tender loving care this morning. Thanks, guys.
