I have a problem, a pair of Road Runners are making a nest in my backyard. I need to go out , but afarid I will scare them off. Is there anyway I can keep them from being afarid of me?
This is my first time dealing with R.R. We have California Quail (wild) that we are feeding. Would love to keep the Road Runners here.
Thanks for any help you can give me
need info on road runner
I guess you could feed them. Here is info from another site.
They mainly eat meat, meaning lizards, mice, other birds, snakes and bugs. They supplement their diet with vegetation. Roadrunners get most of their water from the foods they eat (meaning meat). They can fly short distances low to the ground but much prefer to spend their time on two feet. Roadrunners can reach 17 mph.
The birds around my house love small bits of raw hamburger, though it's been claimed that too much raw meat leads to calcium deficiencies in the birds.

One potential problem. If baby quail come into the yard, the RR's will pick them off like hors d' vors.
red, I would hate it if something happen to the Quail. We love all the birds the come into our yard, but I know that it is nature. Two years ago we had a gopher snake that ate a quail. I would like to have the RR's here, I read that they eat rattlesnakes. We have rattlesnakes here, and they are on my do not like lisit. Thanks for the warning.
