I am a bit reluctant to post these, after seeing Tigerlily's eagle close ups. But it was unusual, at least for me, to get off a dozen in flight shots, all more or less in focus, before he flew past me.
Cooper's Hawk in flight
It looks like it really means business. Thanks Dave.
Nice ones Dave!
They're beautiful Dave. So clear and sharp! I'm waiting for one to come by so I can try that higher ISO you're using. All I need now is the bird and a blue sky!
Nice pics of an immature Red-shouldered Hawk! ;-)
Resin
Thanks everyone, and thanks Resin. Just when I think I can ID them... Guess I'd better stick to Bluebirds.
No please don't do that Dave, we thoroughly enjoyed these shots!
Great shots, Dave! I held a Cooper's in my hands today. Dead as a doornail. Had a clear talon puncture through it's head. Sometimes they don't get along well.
Great series of Red-shouldered Hawk shots. Last week I had a Coopers Hawk (in flight) in my sights but I was shooting Aperture priority as he flew in front of a line of trees. Needless to say, with the dark background, my shutter speed was reduced to 1/300 sec. That happens to me a lot as the bird swoops out of the bright sky into a darkened background. No time to make an adjustment. Of course my ISO wasn't at 8000. That would be impossible with my cameras.
Again, nice shots.
Great flight shots, Dave.
Dave, thanks remarkable shots. He's a beauty.
Super set of the Red-s Hawk Dave!!
