What do Groomers Charge?

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

I have a 90 lb Samoyed who hates any part of grooming. But he gets a bit shaggy and his nails are so long. My vet won't trim them anymore due to the fierce struggle and the stress it causes Sam. He's 13 now. But I can't trim his nails by myself. It takes two--one to hold him down, one to trim the nails.

His hair is about 3-4 inches long and with the temperature heating up, I'd like to make him cooler. The last few years, due to heat, he's developed skin infections and lost most of his hair and had to be put on steroids which make him mean. So this year I thought I'd just hire a groomer to shave him.

Most groomers here won't handle dogs over 50 lbs, but I finally found someone who would do Sam for $55. I'll bathe him the day before and then she'll shave him and trim his nails. That seems reasonable to me. What do y'all think?

Here's my Sammy in all his glory.
