I was really happy when two of my neighbors noticed the greenhouse get moved into it's new spot a few weeks ago..
They both needed some beds split and said if I split them for them I could take whatever I wanted...so now I have new Hostas, Bearded Iris's and a plethora of Canna's
Especially thrilled about the Canna's as when I lived in Newberry, Tropicana noticed during a visit that some of the one's I bought from the Horn co-op had mosaic virus - so I ripped out 5 beds of them - that was tough to do but I knew the right thing so they didn't affect other plants like EE....anyways...I love how gardening can bring neighbors together..
Plant Sharing
Awesome! I just got a slew of blue leafed hostas from a friend's daughters gardens. ;)

all this rain has really helped them settle in...
It has really helped a lot of plants make it through this winter.
I'm planning on planting a few of the hostas in one of my gardens. The rest will go to friends.

I wish more of my neighbors gardened so we could exchange things. The neighbor immediately left of me does a decent amount, but my yard really sticks out on my street because no one else seems to care about gardening or landscaping in the neighborhood :(
I love Hostas, but all mine get burned so badly since my yard gets so much sun. I wish there was something else that looked like hostas I could grow. I love how they come back bigger and more beautiful every year - at least until the sun finally gets them.
reading your post John it reminded me of when the HOA was giving you flack about your yard a couple years ago - it's hard being the prettiest home on the street huh :)
It's not easy being green (thumbed) :)
The lady who was in charge of the HOA has left, and the new guy is pretty slack when it comes to enforcing the rules. Still, every year I worry I'll get another letter. But so far, no further "complaints" from them.
I guess I should probably take all those pink flamingos down though. j/k
hahahaha...you had me going for a second...but only a second lol
Love them! An homage to John Waters? Hope your neighbors are as fabulous as his characters:-)
Don't I wish! Pink Flamingo is one of my fav movies!!!
Actually, my husband used to give me a hibiscus and a flamingo every time he screwed up badly. After four of them, he needed to move up to jewelery...;)
The big one is a Christmas gift from him years ago.

I still miss Devine and Edie the egg lady. His early movies were so deliciously decadent, and they're still shocking. I used to have a cat named Francine Fishpaw:-) Pink Flamingos forever, and long live John Waters - the pride of Baltimore!
I often say that I'm the egg lady without the crib (or girdle) since I love eggs!
haha...lol
I love the Carolinas Forum!
i know! We're a hoot!
