Sometimes there just aren't enough rocks.

But sometimes there are! About 3 tons to be exact. I thought I could finish in a day, what a dreamer.

It's going to be so pretty when finished, though!

LOL if it gets finished. I was thinking I might just stand to one side and toss the rocks and accept wherever they land.

Are you adding to the rock border in the back of the pic or redoing it?

Maybe you could have students come help you for detention or extra credit! LOL

I know what you mean Cheryl, we just recently bought 2 + tons, and a friend gave me a lot of larger ones, it has been quite a job, but it looks great!!

Thats a new bed that I have been composting and adding dirt to for 6 months. Now its time to plant.

Great dirt, the border will make it look great so keep up the good work. Just don't over do it. DH and I can atest it is hard work..multiple back surgeries to show for it.

I am aching just looking at it! I want to do a squarefoot garden and just thinking about those cement blocks makes me tired. Yours will look great when done.

What is a square foot garden?

Love the look of a rock-edged flowerbed -- beautiful. Oh yes, and the quote from Forrest Gump. :-)

Wishful thinking that more often than not yields disappointment. :)

I hope that won't be the case but so well said that I feel you have valuable experience to share.

Been doing a similar project on our whole back yard for almost a year now, plus added elevated bed vegetable garden with rock fence around it. Tons and tons of rock to unload from the pickup and put each in its "special place," which sometimes requires moving it a dozen times. You probably aren't old enough to have them but if you did, you won't have "bat wings" any more when you're done with this project. ROFL.

Ah I am old enough! I don't have a year long project, just a few weekends. The left over rocks are being used to make a raised cacti bed. I used to move rocks over and over but this time I asked myself...what is the purpose? Truth is it is to border the beds and hold in dirt, so I am trying not to be so anal about their placement. Or perhaps it just hurts my knees to pick up rocks for hours on end and I don't want to be crippled LOL.
