Hey guys, wasnt sure where to post this question, but, since most my plants are jungle cactus, and you guys have been quite helpful, I thought Id try here. Last winter a stray pregnant cat showed up on my door step. Since I felt so bad for her, and already had a cat and supplies, I decided to let her in. MISTAKE! She pooped in quite a few of my plants. I had a huge container of christmas cactus that had a bunch of different colors I have collected over the years. Completely dead! Now I have a few more that look like they may be able to be saved, but, not sure where to begin. One is a plant full of a bunch of different types of orchid cactus, a couple rhipsalis, and a staghorn fern. I dont think she got any of the other plants, or if she did there is no evidence of it. I know Im probably going to have to repot with new soil, but, anything else you guys would ad to that?
gross, but need help
If you think you may lose something important to you, take cuttings before it is too late. Other than that, I would hold them on the dry side until you could repot, but repot as soon as possible.

good idea Krowten. Thanks
When repotting -- I would knock as much dirt off of the roots, and if there is a strong ammonia smell which indicates urine, I would wash as much soil off of the roots as possible and treat the remaining plant as you would a bare root cutting when repotting
Sharon ("mama" to 3 kitties who are very good about my plants, but have had others who were not so good...)
They were so bad, that even the leaves were looking bad. I ended up just cutting off all the good stuff, and rerooting. some of them are doing ok, but I went from Big huge beautiful plants, to just a few cuttings! Thats what I get for taking in a stray! lol
