Cajun, bless her heart made a reality abundantly clear to many of us. The response has been overwhelming in my opinion.
There are times when things are just not going well, it happens to all of us one time or another and its those times that we have to make difficult choices. Good Lord isn't life difficult enough and then we have to make the difficult choice of disconnecting with our friends and family that we have come to love and enjoy. Poultry and Livestock and our interest in it has brought us together, therefore it is not appropriate that the price of a DG Subscription should tear us apart. Being left to ourselves that could happen, but working together we can defeat that possibility and assure our DG Family we are going to sticktogether and no one will have to face that imbarrassing moment again. As stated earlier is someone desires a Sabbath then so be it, but, if its the price of the subscription then here is how I see it working.
First it will be called the DG Angel Fund.
I recommend that a maximum of ten dollars can be donated by anyone individual.
When the Fund reaches a hundred fifty dollars I will post a note that simply states the Fund is maxed out.
Subscriptions are only $ 20.00 a year. So a hundred fifty would be seven subscriptions and most of us will buy our own. Therefore that amount should be sufficient
When and individual feels they are in need of some help, they can dmail me and I will immediately look at their due date and take care of it. When the fund gets down to say thirty dollars I will post a note stating that fact. And we can receive donations again. I'm confident this fund will not be abused and will serve us well. The humiliation of being down and out is bad enough and I would say that ZZ's put it so eloquently that it is not possible to improve on her statement. I quote her: (it is often a very secret place) That hurt, but I know she is right...Please add any ideas that you have and I will look at your ideas and incorporate what I think is practical. Then I will put my final thought and decision on this thread for your approval. We will begin implementing on the First day of April. Those who wish to donate can dmail me their address expressing desire to donate, I will dmail that information and give receipt of that donation and my address so they can send it. I will keep the forum abreast and you are totally free to ask any information to the exclusion of who donated, how much, they donated and who has used the donations. That information will remain only with myself. If there is a desire for someone else to handle this, I am more than willing to let your designee take it over...Haystack
The Angel Fund:
Sounds wonderful! Thank you Haystack!
Thank you, Hay!
You know what Hay I think you are a angel in disquise.
I take my inspiration from you, my beloved sisters, and my friends...Hay
Sounds fantastic Hay. Bless you.
Sounds like a perfect plan.Thank you Hay.
Thank you Hay!
What a marvelous and very generous plan. I wish there were more people like the ones I meet here on DG out in the world....
so where do we send the donation to??
Hi Donna: I have been asked to oversee the fund and reluctantly said I would. Therefore those who wish to donate can dmail me with their full name and address. Then I will send my address back to them and they can send the donation and I will send them a receipt. The fund will be available to tap into the First of April and on the first of each month I will post the amound in the fund and the number of persons that have accessed. That way there will be a monthly update on the first of every month...Hay
Are you gonna do this via PayPal too Haystack?
only problem with Pay Pal is they take a % of all money received
It is a save way and the amount is not much. I gave 25 dollars to Salvation army, Japan relief and it was only 95 cents.
they take 2.9% + .30
If it's a personal account, I think the rate is cheaper.. ?? Just a thought.. I've had a business account with them so long I have no clue what it is now.
I don't even know how paypal works...LOL...Thats why I thought someone else would be better to head this up...Seriously. However now Terry has contacted me and I have asked him to post the DG Angel Fund for all of us to evaluate, and he will explain how it works and maybe thats a better way to go...You good folks have to tell me what you want to do and I will be all in for it...Hay
How awesome...
Hi Miss Jestr, I've missed you!
It seems as though DG Admin would like us to use the Angel Fund through their admininstration: Some seem to think this is a better idea, I'm all for it as long as it works for us to achieve the same end...I do hope that someone from Admin will post an explaination as to just how the fund works...I do agree they are much better set up to help those who would have a need to use it. Please send any donations you may wish to give to DG Admin. I wish to thank all of you who expressed a desire to help out...You are all God's (Special Angels)...Howie.
P.S. You can read the response by DG Admin and some of our forum friends on Cajun's thread (Wanted to say goodbye) Any money that has already been sent to me will be returned immediately upon receipt...Howie
Thank You Howie, for being the "middle Man" on this though! We knew we could count on you!
I was thinking about this while cooking breakfast this am. Another thing I thought of was... We all pay for this service, and if they are going to offer to take care of something for us, we have paid for it!
It is such an honorable thing you would have taken on Haystack.. who knows what it might have turned into! It's not like anything is written in stone, if it doesn't work, and we still feel the need, we can always create something in the future.
I greatly admire you and all the members who find it in their heart to step forward and make sure no one is left out. I wouldn't want you to be burdened with something that might have gotten to be quite a bit to handle... who knows?
I think we all feel the same about this issue. As long as the members are cared for that is what matters, and I agree ZZ's if we are not happy in the future we can look at it again...Haystack
I am thankful for my angel. I would have been so lonely without my friends. I lost 2 chickens today and have a 3rd one having problems. God knew it would be a bad day for me and made sure I had my friends when I needed them.
