I am a sucker for boxes of half dead plants; last fall I could not pass up a pack of 6 plants (labeled cabbage) for $.50. These are those cheapies now--made a fantastic salad for lunch.
Even the ribs are sweet (I love them but my wife says "taste like cabbage to me") Sorry, Hon, they don't taste like any cabbage I have ever eaten.
Does anybody want to guess what variety they might be.
I thought "Cos" but they seem to loose a head. Maybe Bok Choy, I've seen pictures but never the real plant. I want more of whatever it is.

I am pretty sure it is Bok Choi.
It will not grow really big and it will soon bolt ... if is a Bok Choi.
I just planted a few in my front garden for a decorative effect and the plants already are bolting with beautiful yellow flowers. The purple Bok Choi is still going and no bolting.
Your right, it is trying to bolt. I wondered why so early. So that's normal? So there is a purple--I am very fond of colored foliage--I gather it is a very quick, short season grower?
I am using individual leaves and notice side shoots will they continue to grow for a while?
Thanks.
It also looks like Kumatsuna which I grow here. It's a fantastic veggie and grows all winter here. I use it for salad, spinach and then when it bolts, for broccoli raab. I have several different varieties including a red, which is deep maroon. I saved some seeds from one of my green varieties if anyone would like to try it.
I normally plant my Bok/Pac Choi in the fall. Now it is too hot and it want to flower here in Dallas.
We are in the mid 70s and tomorrow 80s maybe.
Arugula is also bolting.
Go here for more good Asian veggies. kitazawaseed.com. I love their catalogue and most of their veggies are heirlooms that have been growing for hundreds of years without any fanfare.
Yes, Yehudith.... that's where I originally got my seeds! I've gotten several different varieties and they're all so vibrant and healthy.
I really like this company. I've never had any problems with anything germinating from them. I just put the seeds in, turn around and they've popped out of the ground. I had okra up in 2 days. Honest 2 days!
