Wanted to say goodbye

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

My subscription is almost up and I won't be able to renew right away. This forum is only for subscribers so I won't be able to access it. I will still be on the forums I can access so I won't be totally gone. I hang out on the homesteading forum a lot so if you come over there from time to time I'd love to know how everyone is doing. I wanted to let you all know how much I enjoy talking with you all and how much I have learned and appreciate you sharing your knowledge so freely. It has enriched my life more than you can ever know. I'll be back when I can renew my subscription.

(Zone 6b)

I hope you won't be gone long.

Ferndale, WA

No your not saying goodbye...Hay

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

The people I have met on this site have been so kind to me in so many ways and it never ceases to amaze and humble me. I have learned many lessons here in how to treat others and God has used this site to educate me in so many ways. It has happened once again. A generous soul has reached out to me in kindness and renewed my subscription. It has brought me to tears and I am so thankful for it. I pray God will richly bless them and others like them who give everyday of their knowledge, their compassion, their kindness and their patience. It is a gift beyond measure and appreciated so very much. A simple "Thankyou" seems so inadequate but it is heartfelt and it is all I have at the moment.

Pelzer, SC(Zone 7b)

Oh, good. As soon as I saw your post, I wondered if you had already been renewed, or if I was in time to help. Glad your still with us !

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

You are all so kind to think of me. I never think of myself as a significant person so it is nice to know I am thought of from time to time. Makes the hard days a bit easier.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Cajun, you are a HUGE part of this forum, and you would be terribly missed. DG is an awesome place, I am forever grateful for being here too.
Thank you to whoever kept her here, cause I was trying to find a way to do it myself. I can't stand the thought of one of us having to leave cause of money. Thank you to who kept me here when I was in the same boat.
Just more proof this is the best place ever!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

DG is a awesome place. The members did so much for us after losing everything in Katrina.

Ferndale, WA

What makes it so difficult is that most don't want to speak up and and ask for help, as it is humiliating and most don't want to bring or wallow in self pity. On the other hand we are so far apart physically that we don't really know the difficulties some are going thru...There ought to be some way we can help without members going away and the rest of us just wondering what happened. I don't know how this can be done but there must be a way. Any ideas??? If a member just feels they need a Sabbath fine, but if they are experiencing difficulties then there must be a way to help...Just my opinion...Hay

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Haystack, that is the hardest part of having hard financial times... but it's also the beauty of being online. We are all equal online, no one has anything "better" than anyone else. We all type in the same box. LOL
Also during hard times, we don't want anyone to know, for fear of feeling inadequate, or less than worthy.. or shame... it all comes with hard times... it's a lonely place and a well guarded secret in many cases.

It's a hard situation, but I have faith that if a member is having a hard time, or is gone all of a sudden, someone always notices and makes sure all is well... Thank you Haystack for that suggestion.. I'm in.

(Zone 5b)

CajuninKy, I'm so happy you're still here!! The forum wouldn't be the same without you, thanks Hay for making that happen!! I'm in too for whatever can be done to keep this forum together.

Count me in to

Ferndale, WA

Annie I didn't make anything happen. Here is an idea, just an idea. I know members here don't do what they do to get attention so what if we had a Fund, and it was handled by one of our members who was appointed by other members. Then we could send any donation to that member. That member could let us know when the fund reached a hundred bucks. Then when the fund got down to say twenty the selected member could let us know so we could build it up again. Those who would use those funds, can then just Dmail the Collecting member and that member could access the fund and send for the renewal subscription to the DG. Admin. That way when some can donate they are free to and when they can't thats fine. We can do alot if we work together and that way not put the burden on just one person. That would also save any form of imbarrasement to anyone. The only one who woud know who is using it would be the member we voted in charge. Personally there is not one person here on this forum that I would not trust...Just an idea, I hope you'll share your ideas as well...Hay p.s. It would also keep the donator annonymous. Which frankly I like.

(Zone 5b)

I think that sounds like a great idea. Ok, Hay, then I nominate you to be in charge.

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

Cajun, we need you here! You are part of our Family ! There isnt a one of us who wouldnt gladly help out to keep any one of us here. So to you Haystack, I think that is a great idea. Just let us know how and when and Amen!

Richmond, TX

I second the nomination, Annie.

(Zone 6b)

I agree, you guys are the best.

Ferndale, WA

Annie and all thanks for the vote of confdence, but honestly lets face it there's mostly ladies here and I think ladies might feel more comfortable with another lady. It's difficult cause we have so many great ladies...how do you choose. It was my idea so I have done my part except I will gladly donate...I'd really rather it was one of the ladies, don't ya think...

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

that is a fabulous idea. Count me in but not to handle the money. I am apt to be out of commission soon for a while if I have surgery. Still waiting to see a Dr. and pain it getting worse and worse again. I can Honestly says I hate workers comp

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Donna, I am so sorry to know you are in so much pain. Pain is hard on the body, spirit and mind. I am praying for you.

I think that is a very good idea Hay. I will donate as soon as I can. Someone was so kind and generous to me and I want to pay it forward to bless someone else like I was blessed. I would not be a good one to keep the money, though. The brain is a muscle and the MD makes my memory and computing skills less than they should be. I have trouble keeping up with details. I would never want to up mess anything so important.

(Zone 6b)

Me either.
Are we all afraid we will turn into little Judases?

Cajun, have I not been paying attention? Does that MD mean what I think?

Old Haystack will say I am incompetent again, but I will again repeat this. These immune system diseases seem to be related to fungus. The book, "The Yeast Connection" by William Crook absolutely saved my life. Acidophilus and garlic are a few of the keys to killing fungus.

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Muscular Dystrophy. I'm one of Jerry's Kids. :) But I am still doing pretty good. I rode the colt today!!! First time he has had a person on his back and he did great. He won't be 2 until April so he is not old enough to ride. Just starting to break him in. Longed him for about 5 minutes with the saddle on. Then I got on and DH led him in a 20 meter circle. I got off and petted on him. Then I got back on (without help both times!) and DH led him for another 20 meter circle. 10 minutes all told but it was plenty for the first day.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I second the vote for Haystack.. but if he doesn't want to, it's whoever will.. please not me.. I am not good for that job. Trust me.. LOL I nearly forget my own name, much less keeping track of something!

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

DG used to have an "Angel Fund" to help with subscriptions. I wonder if it still exists? I know I was a little birdie in an ear once or twice.

I sure know what you mean about forgetting. I wobble around in a Fibro Fog most of the time. And I'm so far behind on most stuff, I think I'm actually first!

Cajin, I'm so jealous! I haven't been on a horse in 20something years. I still adore them, and the smell of a horse barn is pure heaven to me!

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Oh, another chicken head, horse nut combo!! There are several of us here. I too love the smell of the barn. It's harder for me to keep it up to my standards now so I am having to trim down the herd so they can still get the best of care even if it is not with me. I cannot be selfish and let them pay the price. We will be selling 4 now and another after summer.
What kind of horses did you have?

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

American Saddlebreds

I worked in a show barn. I was a groom/kid lesson giver/camp queen/pony breaker. And ferret wrangler, but that's another thread.....

I had several wonderful show seasons, dipped my toes in the big shot pool, and came back home and went back to Country Pleasure/bareback/western/barrels/driving LOL I rode it all.

These days the closest I get to riding is throwing a saddle on the laundry monster!

This is Wing Commander. I think he was the greatest Saddlebred ever shown.

Wow what a gorgeous horse. Horses are probably the only animal that really makes me feel emotional. There is something so majestic about horses. I get really upset when I see abusive owners, and there are a lot of them...Hay

Morning_gayle: I don't remember ever meeting you, but evidently you have been

here before I ever came around. Hmmm...DG Angel fund: What a great name for helping out with subscriptions. Also thanks for the great picture, I love it...Hay

Morning_gayle do you remember how the Angel Fund worked previously?

Gridley, IL

Im so glad you are still here also Cajun ! im not on here as much as i would like but i sure try to catch up when i can.Im also in to add to a fund. God knows broke is my middle name but im happy to share what i have with the wonderful people i have met and hope to meet here in dg. You guys have all helped me so much . The information on this site has gotten me thru many obsticales out here in my chicken barn. I love to see all the pictures of so many awesome breeds of poutry and learn the special needs of them with a simple post of a question. I love the people on this site. most are so eager to toss in their experiences and so many times it has helped me to figure out what im doing wrong and what im doing right. I value each and every one of you and keep those pictures comming as nothing melts me quicker or puts a smile on my face on a bad day than a new picture of someones lil fuzzie chicke doodle doo. oh yeah and here are a coupe of pictures of my girls. This is CHEYENNE( registered missori fox trotter.

I love horses to,nothing like the sight of a horse running across the pasture and the sound of hoof beats

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

I never had the opportunity to be around horses, but they are magnificent creatures! The closest thing I 've ever owned that weighed more than me was a California Hurricane Acres Nubian Nanny Goat, and she was large enough for a pony saddle!

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

Wolfie, your horses are very nice. I have never had the opportunity to ride a MFT. What kind of gait do they have? It's funny the 2 of them being marked so much alike. We have 2 spotted horses. One is red and the other is blue. The red one has an elephant on his left side and the blue one has a praying lady on her left side. I'll see if I can find some pics and post them.

Eufaula, those nubians get near as big as ponies. I was amazed at that. I'd like to have a nubian wether and a cart. I'd be in all the parades and be the talk of the town. I'm likely already the talk of the town. LOL

MG, I love the look of the saddlebreds. The only one I ever rode was at a riding stable of all places. That was a lot of years ago when I was still strong and fearless. :) He was a show horse and had been stalled his whole life. They had had him for a good while but he had only been ridden by the staff because he was so spirited. The day we were there he was the only one left and because I was an experienced rider they let me have a go at him. I had a grand time on him and would love to have taken him home with me. His name was Tomahawk and I will never forget him.

We all trust you, Hay. I seem to remember you offering to have an "operation" not long ago if a lady purchased some really expensive chickens...? If you don't want to do it, that is another story and understandable. I really don't care who takes care of it, as long as we don't lose any one from this forum.

Ferndale, WA

OK Eufaula, I'll do it. I'll spend time tonight figuring it out and I'll post it tomorrow for everyone's ok. And we will go from there...Hay

Richmond, TX

Woo-hoo!

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

You da man! (literally) LOL I slay myself.

Ferndale, WA

Yes, and you slay me to darling...LOL...Hay
