Yellow Blooming For First Time

Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

I bought this clivia at a North GA nursery a couple of years ago. It was simply marked "yellow clivia". It was tiny when I bought it, but I couldn't pass up on the nine dollar price tag. This is the first time it has set buds..

I may repot it after it finishes blooming, it is really rootbound. I think the cold room I kept it in over the winter helped it set buds.. I keep it outside under one of the shade trees all summer.

They are easy to pollinate if you want seeds, just mush the pollen around a bit.

I didn't know that, thanks for the tip.. There isn't much soil left in the pot, the surface has so many roots that it looks like a pile of spaghetti.

You could prune the roots slightly and add more soil.
