Beautiful photo - I like this one better than the bloom of the day chosen.
I have re-adjusted the gamma on this photo and then re-submitted/uploaded it because when it was originally added to the PlantFiles in 2008, I had the gamma settings set too high. That might be why the color looks better.
I like the composition. Very nice. Marginally OK for my zone, might have to give it a whirl.
Thanks.
Xeno.
How do you set gamma settings, Xeno?
This is back when I had one of those CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) computer monitors (remember those ancient things?). I would take my photos with my digital camera and when I would look at them on the CRT monitor, they were looking too dark, so on some of them I raised the gamma in my photo editing program which is Paint Shop Pro. Well, now that I am viewing those photos on a new LCD monitor, they look faded, lackluster & over-exposed.
So, I put the photo back into Paint Shop Pro and reverse the gamma boost that I had originally applied to it.
Simply put: Gamma is the amount of luminance; a combination of contrast, brightness/darkness & color intensity; or the amount of White-level.
Here's the Wiki on it:

I have Paint Shop Pro X. I have brightened photos but did not notice a gamma setting. Your photos look great to me.
I realize now that the old camera was taking great photos, it's just that my old computer monitor was not properly adjusted or maybe it was too old. I am using an old version of PSP, it's version 4 from 1996, I think. Maybe the newer version does not have a gamma control.

take a look at this link about PSP

now i know why i went back to PSP9
Dick
LOL Remember Dick when I was being harassed on the brug forum and you photo shopped that brug tree down and built the brick wall up for me to post a funny. LOL. I had no clue then. Now I am quite good at it all. Self taught so I probably do not do it right but it usually looks good.
sure seems like a long time ago
i still have a file with all of those awesome skys :-)
