Anybody ready for a rain dance?

Wichita Falls, TX

Normally we have had 6" for the year by now -- we have less than zilch!

It is cloudy today with a small chance of showers. . . must go do a rain dance! Help needed!

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

I went outsisde and dance a little myself for my veggie bed. Waving my arms in your general direction to help you too!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Strike up the band! I've got my dancin' boots on!!

Cleburne, TX(Zone 8a)

While you're in the dancin' mood, please do whatever dance it takes to slow down this wind!!! I'm having a terrible time trying to harden off my little plants and get them ready for transplanting with the wind blowing them to pieces even on my big front porch. But then I see those videos from Japan and I know I really have absolutely no right to complain.

Happy Gardening,
Glenna

Blowing winds here too ... no rain either ...
But nor freeze or snow ... so no complains !!

Gainesville, TX

Greta you and I in the same boat with no water

Arlington, TX

So cloudy all day and now it looks clearer. My beds are bone dry and tomorrow if the rain doesn't show its watering time for me.

I just finished installing 900 feet of two inch pvc, 3000+ feet of 3/4 inch blue line poly irrigation tube, 250+ spot spitter emitters and 30 super-complex to build on/off devices. All of this has two hook-ups to three 100,000+ gallon capacity ponds that I dug with a bulldozer and backhoe. The whole process took months.

One problem.

No water in the ponds!!!!

Please rain please.

We had what my Dad would have called a 10-inch rain here last night - the drops were 10 inches apart at about 1:00 am. LOL. Lasted for about 3 minutes. Big disappointment. Smelled good, though.

Anyone get any real rain?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

No rain here, I am watering the slope right now.

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Nothing here. South Austin looks to have gotten a small shower and west of here looks lucky.

Nada, this morning looked promising. Sun is out now...

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I smelled rain last evening too Glenna, but nada.

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

Guh!

Arlington, TX

With you Josephine, dragging out the hoses.

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

No rain dance needed here. We just had clouds blow through and got a little over 1/2 in of rain. It is still drizzling and looks like there is a chance we could get more. Would love to send you all some but I think this was moving east.

And the sun gone again.lol
Wishing I was east of Conroe!
Cold and cloudy is the best we'll get today. Going to stay in and cook.

Arlington, TX

Cold and windy but sunny here. I am out watering and its blowing everywhere.

Dickinson, TX(Zone 9a)

We're getting a nice steady rain right now on the gulf coast near Galveston-hope it comes your way up north of here!

Gainesville, TX

Beautiful lightening storm, rain went east again to Sherman. The east gets our rain everytime it is predicted here. Butttttttttttt last night the little town of Thackerville 3 miles west of me got a good soaking rain and me?......nada

Gainesville, TX

If I had a 1/2 inch rain, I would get out the boat and think I had a flood......

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Cool and windy here too today. I got out and did some weeding for about an hour, but my face was so cold. Waiting for the wind to die down. Ground is hard, guess we need to water, doesn't look like it will rain for a while.

Alba, TX(Zone 8a)

Need rain/willing to rain dance. We got a little bit last night. Despite some standing puddles the ground still feels dry to the touch.

Wichita Falls, TX

Gee, my rain dance did help somebody! But, the wrong somebody! You are welcome!

Glad to hear some areas are at least getting a bit of moisture.

We are planning on converting our in-ground pool to a rain water resouvier. Wondering if it will ever be useful. But, I must admit, we are able to work on it with the dry weather. Still trying to clean it out and get rid of the vinyl liner -- nasty stuff. Then we get to figure out how to seal it (cheaply) so it will hold water. Hoping as bad as the clay is here, all will be well with our adventure.

Lets keep dancing!!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

We got a very brief shower late last night. Sounded like big drops. No real accumulation. I don't even think it was enough to settle the dust.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Had a great rain here in W Houston--please don't hate me! A real ol' downpour at times. I hope this washes down some pollen. Dancing for you rainless ones. :) Janet

Talihina, OK

Sunday night /monday morning we had a monster T storm that was folowed by a heavy rain ,not sure how much but looked to be over 1" judging from water collected in buckets that were left out ,don't have the gauge up just yet ,waiting until I am fairly certain it wont freeze anymore...that was followed by a very chilly day yesterday,,At least it knocked down some of the pollen that was blowing around but I fear that it may have destroyed my plum crop as the ground was white with fallen blossums ...Only have the one tree and never get any plums off it seems like the weather always either gets the blooms or winds get the fruit ..

Wichita Falls, TX

grits -- glad you got some rain! Wondering how far you are from me -- being envious.

Thinking maybe your plum needs a friend. . . to help with pollination. I too only have one, which is beginning to bloom. I also never get plums -- thinking it needs a buddy. Something to think about. Last year my daughter had several plum trees and they all produced abundantly. . . .they had friends.

It is cloudy here today, maybe it will rain (she says optimistically??).

Talihina, OK

Ok greta I live near McAlester Ok almost due east tho a bit south> due west of Mena Ar. north of Paris Tx. and south of Poteau Ok. Don't know how close the plums have to be the wild ones are blooming right now and there be lots of those fairly close last year and the year before it set fruit but some nasty wind knocked most all of it to the ground

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

We had a decent rain here inside the 610 Loop on the North side but I dont think it was an inch. However, the wind has been so constant that it dries out the plants rather quickly.

Alba, TX(Zone 8a)

About 20 big drops of rain last night. Looked like a good shower north of us (south of Alba and about half way between Emory and Golden). So maybe Sulphur Springs got some rain? Still hawling hoses and working on drip irrigation here.
