I made this little garden during one of my insomnia nights using jade and pin-cushion spikemoss (Selaginella kraussiana 'Brownii'.

I bought the Elm tree at a Garden and Patio Show. The White Cedar, mini Daisy's (just planted forgive the droop, they'll perk up), table w/ chairs and patio came from twogreenthumbs.com. The faries are from theturtletrail.com.

No experience with elms, sorry...what variety is it?

Wiggins, MS(Zone 8b)

Hey jen. Thanks. I don't know what variety it is. Just said Chinese Elm.

Going to post on Bonsai forum. Maybe someone can help me there with the ID.

Here's some info from a bonsai site....
As a native outside in the open the grow 60' tall

Chinese Elm- 'Ulmus Parvifolia'
General Care : Shelter from harsh conditions and cold weather, however most varieties of Chinese Elm are quite frost hardy.
Prune after the growth period (early spring), leaving the one or two nodes closest to the main trunk or branch.
Water moderately year round, but keep the plant moist at all times, keeping in mind to water well during spring and early summer.
Repot in early spring, every 1-3 years, but this must be either a month before or after pruning to ensure that the plant sustains the least shock possible.

Yeah that's basically what the info sheet said. It was at a Bonsai booth but the seller was not the grower and he knew nothing about it. Thanks so much for your input. How's your mini garden coming? Have you started it or are you still collecting everything? Isn't it fun!!

Still collecting, start planting up here around Mother's Day.
Fun and very addicting!!!!

Weather is beautiful here. Highs in the 70's. Spring flowers are already blooming. Moms Iris are lovely already!

flowAjen, lol! Does it help to know it's 4am and it's now 57 degrees?

Wiggins, MS(Zone 8b)

OMG! Last night the neighbors big dog knocked the over the mini garden in the first pic above and broke the patio in 4 pieces. Was able to piece it back but isn't as pretty with cracks in it. I'll have to make a new patio. The neighbor said "Oops, sorry." Grrrrrrr.

I'd kill 'em

Well, better until the last two days.... That's just the way CFS is. Up and down. OK overall though! Thanks....
