Spring has sprung and so have a few plants that I don't recognize. LOL Any ideas on what these lovely things are?

I'm especially wondering about the plant directly in front of the plastic fork (on the left).

to me the one by the spoon looks like some kind of Rubeckia.. Im not positive but thats my first guess.

Yeah, I'd agree, spoon rather than fork...

Could the top one be prairie aster or such? They're kind of wacky because the first bit of leaves in the spring looks nothing like the rest of the plant the rest of the year.

Okay, I looked at pics from last spring and I think the 2nd pic is of Rudbeckia Goldstrum. Still not 100% certain.

I'm thinking pic #1 is Willowleaf aster, but again, need confirmation.

Yes, I think you are right on both, especially the first one, it is Willowleaf aster.

Josephine, I got 3 Willow Leaf asters from you last spring and look how they've multiplied! Thank you so much!

You are welcome, they are strong growers.

Do the mother plants come back or not?

Arlington, TX

Dang! I just pulled up a whole lot of number one, now I know what I planted there. I think I eradicated the asters.

Cheryl!! Why did you do that? You should've posted a pic!! I'll need to see if I have enough to divide and give you some.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes Stephanie, the mother plus a lot of babies come back.
Cheryl, don't worry, I can give you some more at the swap, the new plants look very different from the mature plants.

I found one remaining plant (hiding behind a rock quivering with fear!) I noticed the roots had spread quite a bit so there might be some more roots in the dirt that can sprout. I did wonder how I got such a vigarous patch of weeds in that spot.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL Cheryl! I was wondering if they were weeds at first, too!

Arlington, TX

I should have known better. There is a weedy plant that looks similar in its early stages.

LOL, Cheryl -- hiding and quivering with fear!! That cracked me up!
