Dutch Silkies?

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Now I'm really excited! Haystack, you mentioned you are getting some.. I'm thrilled for you.. I'm waiting permission to use someone's photos... and will post as soon as I can.

Apparently, the best part is.. they can see!!!!!!!!! They have a big chest and stance like a Serama, and no huge top knot... not bearded either. If you ask me, they are the perfect Silkie! I don't want a bird that can't see cause of the hairdo..

Stay tuned!!

That is great news ZZ's. Evidently you have at least found some pic's, that is more than I have been able to find. Thanks for any infor you come across...Hay

Looks like the silkies we used to have years ago. Not bearded and no huge top fluff... My favorite kind... Sounds like a new name for them... just that they adhere to the European Standard..

I hope they get ultra popular and sell good.. I am all for a chicken that can function normally!

Here is a link to a girl hatching some now.. Here is her fb page.

If you go there, you can follow another girl's link to her website to see pics. Very nice!

Donna, what we call PQ is the best out there if you ask me. Looks like they got a name change and some tweeks to their confirmation is all..

Donna what are PQ Silkies?

OH, one more thing, looking for the Dutch Silky, they don't spell it Silkies but rather Silky, which may be one reason why they are hard to find...I know Nothing...LOL

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

You know plenty Haystack, stop that! I didn't find anything by spelling it that way... I just kept googling European Standard, etc.

PQ is pet quality.. and should be the standard if you ask me! LOL

I got an answer from someone that raises silkies and this is what they said, they are imported from the netherlands, many of the paints and reds are of dutch orgin, the type is a bit different thean the american, shorter feathers, smaller crest, less S shapes.Reds are more of a pure red and mahogony is more evident in them. Then they said, however it could be a silkied dutch, which is an entirely different breed, just exhibting silkie geathering. Can`t wait to see pictures.

OK Hay found out what a dutch is,its a very small batam

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

That is a Dutch Bantam Green... They are great birds. This is all confusing, cause really the "Dutch Silky" is relatively news to us..

We are talking about Dutch Silkies that are just like American Silkies, but they don't have a "top knot" in their skull and no beards.. they have a smaller "top hat" too, so they can see naturally, without haircuts. They adhere to the European Standard, not the American Standard for Silkies.

Hey Donna, back about eighteen months ago, Silkie Chick sent me a dmail. She spoke totally in abreviations. I sent her a message back, it went something like this. (Dear Silkie Chick I love reading your posts, and Dmails. It always makes me feel like I just visited a Foreign Country, I read, laugh, and then spend the rest of the day trying to figure out what you just said.) Her response was (I'm laughing to hard to type)...LOLOL...Shaking head...Hay
