I've run out of space! the only place I can sore all my planted bulbs together (loads of them!) is in a shady area of the garden, will this be ok until they poke through the soil? When they come to life I'll move them on and plant them out.
Storing potted bulbs
Do you mean that they're already actually planted in the ground in that shady area ? If so, disturbing them and moving them may cause them not to flower.
No, I've potted the bulbs into containers, then when they pop up, I'll plant them out in the garden.
ok, got it. I still wouldn't disturb the roots on them. Maybe you could just sink the entire container in the ground. I used to do that a lot with bulbs since my garden is so small, then when they were finished blooming I moved them out of sight which freed up the space to plant something else.
I dont mean to barge on your post with my question. But do you know if water forced amaryllis bulbs are worth salvaging?
Yes, they are worth salvaging, but from my experience with bulbs forced in water, they don't bloom the next year if planted in soil, but will the following year. I've never tried to get to them to rebloom a second time in water.
Thanks! I will be saving my bulb then :)
