I've got six spider lilies in the ground, and one in a container. The ones in the ground all survived the big freeze we
had recently, and are starting to grow again. The one in the container, though, isn't. Does anyone know what the
problem might be? I brought it inside for the duration of the freeze, but I doubt that had anything to do with it.

Anyone grow spider lilies (Hymenocallis liriosme)?
Usually a container doesn't provide as much insulation as in ground, your bulb probably froze.
Josephine.
I have never had spider lilies freeze out while in the ground, Temps here at the lowest rare down to 5 in the winter.
I don't have a clue about containers but Josephine usually knows best for our area.
Well, the thing is I brought it inside for the freeze, so it's probably not the cold. I guess I'll dig it up and see
what happened.

No it isn't the cold then, it still might be fine, give it some time.
Well, it turns out it was grubs that did it in. I dug it up today and found them on the bulb. The roots
were all eaten up and the bulb itself was shrunken and soft. There still seems to be a very small bit
of undamaged tissue in the very center. Is there any way to save it, or should I concede defeat? At
least the ones in the ground are growing strong.
Brandon
Who knows? you have nothing to lose by giving it time to heal...
