I went on line to print my flight itenary off and this email was flashing "sale, 50% off everything on the site, 3 days only" from Gurney's. I stopped and thought, Hmmm, wasn't that where I saw those 3 tiered strawberry pyramid gardens that had the spray coming right out of the top of water? And sure enough it was! So; I bought two of them, each one will hold 50 strawberries and lucky me, got both for $49.99. Does anyone else have these and have you had luck with them?
I have had to slow down on the spending as this fall/winter I am going to build some above ground beds. I am thinking cypress and am thinking 4 beds. In Gardener's Supply they have advertised 2 beds one for blueberries and one for raspberries. Mine are gonna be kinda like them, but, much taller, like the one for the raspberries will be 8' L x 2' W x 12" tall. I will place 6 pieces of rebar instead of 4 on the outter corners and in the centers of the bed and use clothesline every two feet to hold the limbs up. I will make two of these and one will hold 5 raspberry canes and the other 5 thornless blackberry canes, the third bed will be 6' x 3' x 12" tall and I will put 2 blueberry bushes in it. Now, I have some questions, will these be deep enough for the roots that will grow downwards on these bushes?? I was thinking of putting chicken wire on the bottom of the bed and weed cloth over that. Cedar is hard to find and I was thinking of using Cypress instead. I was also planning on making a double bed (two 4x4's put together) only with one of the ends being taller than the other side, one side would be 8" high and the other 12". The 8" one could contain melons while the 12" end could contain lettuce, or perhaps in the cooler climate, greens and cabbages.
Let me know any thoughts and suggestions, I know this project will cost me, as the wood alone will cost me about $300; but, I wanna do it.

Was a bad girl and did some shopping!
Joy, for a gal who said she didn't know much about gardening, building, or taking care of herself when I first met you, you have become one industrious, accomplished soul! I congratulate you.
Your plans sound fantastic.
Don't you live on a lot in town?
Your place must be a testament to limited space gardening. Love your enthusiasm and thirst for information and willingness to try what you want.

Lane: Actually I have more like a double lot that is almost an acre, and the whole back yard is almost planted up now, so, will have to slow down I suppose. I love learning new things though and this gardening is fun and new and fresh so I'm really enjoying it.
