Vaccinating for Mareks

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I am ordering chicks with a group of other folks. They do not want to vaccinate, I do. The hatchery will do all or none. I know that the chicks need to be vaccinated asap, but it looks like that may not be able to happen. Does anyone know if vaccinating the day after is really going to do that much harm or good? I've read up on how to do it and have located a source, but if it's really not going to help, well....
Thanks, any advice is welcome.

I wouldn't vaccinate chicks that have been shipped.. One reason is, they have already been exposed. The other reason is, it's hard enough for them to survive the trip, much less being vaccinated on top of it.. If it were me, there is no way I'd take that chance.

If you don't have adult chickens already, in my opinion, your chances of loosing them to Mereck's is slim.

Update: the point is moot. The other buyers have agreed (reluctantly) to vaccinate. In order to keep everyone happy, I've offered to pay a portion, since I'm the one who insisted.
I do have adult chickens, so I'm happier being safe, rather than sorry somewhere down the road...
Thank you for your advice. I really appreciate it. Even one year into having chickens, I'm still in the dark about a lot of it!
