Horned Lark or Pipit? Never seen one from this angle....

Not sure what to make of that! Any more pics?

Not a Horned Lark. More pipit-like, but that very bright, long supercilium (eyebrow) is far too marked for a pipit, it'd fit better on a meadowlark (but the wing pattern is wrong for that). Also while some pipits do, American Pipit doesn't have that pair of parallel white lines down the back. Dickcissel, perhaps? But bill looks wrong for that, and surely too early in the spring for them too. Lark Sparrow? Possible, but rest of face pattern isn't good. I'm stuck!

At least we are on the same page...all those thoughts went thru my head regarding the Horned Lark & American Pipit.

I have a couple more bad photos but I am not sure it is even the same bird they are so bad and the bird moved.

'Fraid those 3 new pics are a different bird to pic #1 (I think the same in all 3), a sparrow of some sort.

That is what I thought...Lots of Song Sparrows there!

What do you think of a female Red-winged Blackbird? I don't think it matches but someonelse suggested that to me. I am not really sure when the Meadowlarks come back and we are getting some summer migrants now already.

I can't believe I stumped you!!

Agree with Resin, first picture fits the Meadowlark but can't put that 100% stamp on it.

I am in agreement with that.
