Well, what else do you expect from a California girl? ^_^ After all, Elke was born in Houston, Texas, and lived there until she was 8 weeks old. (When was the last time it snowed in Houston?) Then she moved to Scotts Valley, California, where it only snows once every 30 or 40 years. The chances were pretty good that Elke could live to a ripe old age without ever setting her delicate and dainty little paw into the stuff. But we woke up last Saturday morning to a little dusting of snow here in Zone 9 and decided we needed pictures of Elke’s first experience with snow. We think she’s pretty cute.
I know most of you in the Midwest and on the East Coast have been inundated this winter with this white stuff and would hardly consider what we experienced as snow. We even e-mailed a picture of our deck to our friend in the Chicago area and his response was, “We don’t call that snow . . . we call that dandruff!” Still, it’s the most you’ll see here at barely 600 feet above sea level. And it doesn’t last long. As soon as the sun rose, it rapidly melted. But we enjoyed it for as long as it lasted.
