Iʻm in the process of building a chicken coop. (My babies are arriving in a week and a half---they are speckled sussex chicks.)
How tall are they? Iʻve built the rafters and need to know how far down to put the roost.
Please help.

I don't know about Speckled but my Coronation Splits are huge. I had to go to a 10" wide board for their ramp. I was wondering why they never went up at night I had to go out and put them in the coop grrrrrr
They will learn eventually Donna.. LOL
Guava, I'd put the roosts above the nest boxes.. Doesn't have to be near the roof.. Just higher than the nest box..
they use it now ZZ the 6" was way to small for them. They are huge wide birds
