CLOSED: Phoebe or Flycatcher?

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

When I took the photo, I thought this was an Eastern Phoebe. But looking at the photo, the brownish red on the wings doesn't seem right to me. I can't find anything else it would be though. The size seemed to me to be the same as a Phoebe, but it was pretty far, so not sure.

I took the photo last Friday in Smiley, Texas, about 160 miles west of Houston.

Patti

I'm suggesting a Ash-throated Flycatcher.

Sandusky, OH

Agree with Eastern Phoebe.

Thank you Elageo and Burd. The wing pattern does look more like one of the Myiarchus flycatchers, but the shape of the head and color pattern on the bird and behavior (tail flicking) seemed like a Phoebe to me. I never heard the call.

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Eastern Phoebe for me too. If nothing else, too early in spring for any of the Myiarchus flycatchers to have arrived yet, whereas EP winters in TX.

Thanks all. I'm going to attribute the strange color to my white balance probably being off and call this one an Eastern Phoebe.

I appreciate the help!
