I was lucky to be able to grab two chicks before Goat attacked me - she's overly serious about her babies. I wasnted to be able to look at them and try to get (what I thought) was one of each. I was lucky to grab two and still have my limbs attached, so these are just random chicks within my reach.
Here is BCM chickie #1 Sorry about the way I'm holding it, her Drama Momma was screaming and chickie was not happy.
BCM, Boys Or Girls?
Okay, don't rely on me but I want to try to guess before the experts do. I am guessing that the lack of tail feathers and rounded wings make them both boys (?)
Chickie #2 is very blurry. My guess would be they are both very cute and cuddly. Goat is like you being in the hospital, and some stranger has just come to the baby ward and taken your child. What would you do.??? Indeed...LOL...Hay
Thanks for your guess PP! There are all so different looking, to me. It was very hard to hold them with their Momma screaming and trying to get out of the pen.
Hay, it would have depended how long and hard my labor was if a stranger came into the room..... LOL. I do understand though, but she is just FRANTIC and wild about her babies. Total opposite of Charlotte who is fussy but very calm. I'll try to get more pictures later after I get some shark proof clothing.
They are all very active and so cute. They eat so much! When they scratch with their little legs and shavings go flying it cracks me up. I love to sit out in the garage with a cup of coffee and watch chicken TV. I turned the heat up tp 65 in the garage even though they have heat lamps, then turned the heat down in the house to make up for it. My DH and DN complain that if they want to be warm they have to go watch the chickens!
I can't tell when you spread the wing out. I can tell a lot better with just a natural stance... It confuses me.. I'm sorry!
Also, I can only tell by the shape of the wing until they are about 5 or 6 days old.. after that, the boys catch up with the girls real fast..
#1 is a roo for sure.. look at that comb! He doesn't have much of a tail.. #2 has more tail than that... and #2 doesn't seem to have that much comb. If they were standing next to eachother and it wasn't blurry... I'd think I could tell much better.. my "roo indicator" didn't go off when I first saw the pic of #2 LOL
If you could just set them on a table or something.. get a picture of them just standing normal.. or even 2 or 3 together to compare! I don't need a close up.. just a profile and a clear picture.
This is just me... and how I guess... it's my favorite thing to do!! :)
