Dana,

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Here, we could still have a late frost well into late March or early April. My Brugs stay in the greenhouse until April. I learned that the hard way.

Thanks Betty i have a huge roll of frost cloth just for this ocassion. Are weathers 80's every day way too hot to keep them locked up. Plumeria's are loving it but not these, here she is this morning thought maybe she would darken a bit but i guess this is it early treat with plenty more buds coming :)

I'm sure the plants would be better off outside if it weren't for that very real threat of a late frost. All this was supposed to be temporary, although I've had it for at least 6 years. The story I've heard all this time is, "Once we build our house, you'll get a real greenhouse. What I have doesn't have a vent in the roof so I've had to improvise. It's time to set the maximum temperature setting on the base unit of my weather station. When the alarm rings, I have to go out and open up the side for the day and spray everything inside with a fine spray of water from a tall sprinkler to bring the temperatures down. I recently bought a fan which I plan to install up near the top of the greenhouse to help push out the hot air. A "real" greenhouse has been a dream of mine for ages.

Well, the reality is that the house is under way. Once the security guys install the wiring for the system, the insulation and drywall goes in.... there is a BIG "but" here ....
my DH is close enough to retirement that he doesn't want to go into more debt ( We still have a mortgage on the ranch through the local bank.) so we are paying for the house from a nearly empty account set up for that purpose. It's down to furniture for the house or a greenhouse. I need to figure out a way to get an automatic vent or two installed in the roof of the current greenhouse when we move the whole mess to its new location. It will be in a more protected area near the new house so it should be warmer during winter, but I will still have to take care of those warm winter days in some way other than what I am doing now.

The Brugs don't seem to mind too much the changes from the high 70s and 80s we get on some days. I have the thermostat set at 50ºF. Windy nights can drive the temperatures down into the 40s. I do have to watch for spidermites in March.

I have 2- 12x20 carports made from chain link pipe I buy the good plastic and the plastic clamps at the flea market. I set these up every winter 1 and a half is all plumeria and the rest is vines brugs, bananas, that kind of stuff. Works well for me this winter brugs are staying in the ground. And half of the plumeria will be sold on ebay. I have had fun with it all. There was a show that was on tv a few years ago following a family in uk I think that went green one show was them building there green house it was great really good ideas biggest part was solar they made a big hole in the ground and filled it with glass bottles that were tiny peices. They ran a pipe thru the glass down to the bottom of the hole covered it over. The pipe went up to the roof were it sucked the hot air thru this pipe were it was let out to warm the glass peices. At night the warmed glass would radiate the heat up and keep the green house from getting too cold cool ideas

Angels exotic has been one of my favorite doubles. It does very well here in south florida. It's very hardy surviving on it's own for 2 years. Now that i am fertilizing again it is taking off. Beautiful bloom you have there. Look forward to many more in the season to come. Definitely one of the heat tolerant brugs.
