Show Us Your Bird Feeders! # 16

Marlton, NJ

Just bought a new suet feeder. This is a Droll Yankee double suet feeder. The 2 things that attracted me to it were that it opens from the top edge as opposed to the whole front panel opening and also the chain is much longer than on single suet feeders and will fit more easily around large branches. The suet cakes sit singly on top of one another.
I have it filled with Hot Pepper Suet by Pine Tree Farms and the many squirrels we have will not eat it.

Please be sure to show us any new feeders you might have or are thinking of purchasing. We can share our thoughts on what has been most successful or not for us.

My Feeder is a very simple piece of ply wood on an old table.
The water trough is the bottom 4 inches of an old blue 200 lit drum.
There are generally 40 or so Birds here at a time.

And yet they keep coming.

Very nice Ginger! I would love to see Cockatoos in my yard! What is the black and white bird in the first pic on the left end of the table?

Unfortunately we can have 20 or more squirrels at a time in the yard so it's a major consideration when making or buying a feeder.

It's a Magpie Pell.

This is my smaller feeder.

Very nice double-decker suet feeder Pelle, the platform feeders you've with all the visitors are functional. Love those birds Ginger. Here is a new one I set up hoping to attract Eastern Blue Birds (with the small bow for mealworms) maynot be a good idea having other seeds and peanuts in there. For the past few days I've seen all kind of birds include EBBs visiting it.

I also use this table top to cut up my Dogs sausage meat.
This Magpie had stolen some of it and is feeding her youngen.
Interesting Picture I think.

I agreed with Duc, I'm so glad of Ginger's contribution, his birds are fabulous, photography is fantastic as well. Looks who has discovered my Blue Birds' mealworms buffet?

We don't get those Birds here Lily.
Great to see them and learn.

This was my old feeder on the back Veranda.
It rusted away and I started feeding them on the BBQ table.
That had to stop as well.
Too many little and big messages left on our Table. :o)

By that you meant they too left postcards letting you know they've came by? LOL. A feeling I knew too well being surrounded with all sort of feathered friends. lol.

The Crows generally eat road kill.
But they will come in for a free feed if its available.

Those birds reminded me of these ones...some sort of finches from the tropic.

I knew soon or later Dave's talent will be discovered! Congrats Dave.

This feeder isn't new but it was a hit for my Wrens last year. This year I just pulled it out as a reminder for the Wrens to start building their nest nearby. lol

This is one of my simplest feeders you could imagine.
A BBQ bench with a little Bird seed on it. ;--)
Who needs all those fancy/expensive hanging boxes ???

Even my resident alpha male Scrub Turkey will clean the seat ready for my next BBQ.
I now have a Pizza oven out there in the Garden/Picnic area.
But more about that another time.

I took the lid off of my window hummingbird feeder to use for a mealworm feeder. Hope to get some takers, as I've never really fed worms before. I had a nuthatch the other day when I put them on the hanging platform feeder.

Remember the suet feeder of mine in the first pic of this thread? Well I had to take it down off the tree and put it on the baffled pole system.

Seems we have Raccoons taking the feeder completely off the tree and eating all the hot pepper suet, they must be really hungry if their eating that stuff!

I'm glad you've renew this thread so we can learn more from one another. To see what works and what doesn't. :)

Those are some spice-loving raccoons!

Marlton, NJ

Really! I've been hanging hot pepper suet from the trees for years without a problem till these spicey raccoons came along! :-)
