Totally different rescue story...

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

A totally different rescue story...got a phone call today from a friend needing some help with 9 (yes, 9) Shih Tzu's. Her mother passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, in New Hampshire...so she had to fly there to take care of what needed to be done...she had NO idea what to do with the dogs, taking them all back to TX was/is not an option, she doesn't know the area well and it's in the middle of nowhere! She reached out to me, asking for advice and what to do - I told her I'd see what I could do from here and threw myself on the phone - called ALL over the US, spoke to rescue groups, breed groups - and the national coordinator for Shih Tzu rescue in CA....apparently finding help for a bunch of Shih Tzu's is harder than finding help for Mastiffs! I then went to Petfinder, started calling all local rescues I could find and was referred to a local rescue/kennel by a cat rescue (of all places!) - turns out this was the place her mother used to bring the dogs for grooming - she knew the story, the dogs, and was more than willing to help, as in taking all 9 dogs, arranging vetting and looking for homes for them! I nearly cried I was so relieved (2 hrs on the phone is taxing) and immediately called my friend...who might be able to get a good nites sleep now - none of the dogs are fixed, and with one in heat - you can imagine the ruckus! She just called, they are picking up the dogs tomorrow at 1:30!!!
